Nassau, Bahamas, 25th November 2024 — Jemima’s Playhouse, a leading US-based children’s entertainment company known for its educational and engaging interactions with children between the ages of 2 - 12 years old, recently made a special visit to EP Roberts Primary School in Nassau, Bahamas. The interactive event aimed to show students the power of their own imaginations.
With a focus on empowering young minds, Jemima’s Playhouse brought a vibrant, engaging show that not only encouraged students to explore their creativity, but also introduced them to Spanish and French words. There was even a surprise visit by legendary character, Señor Burro©, who teaches the students Spanish. Señor Burro©, a Jemima’s Playhouse creation, has been limited to rare appearances since the onset of COVID-19. And this was one of them. The students of E.P. Roberts Primary School were simply delighted to meet him in person!
Jemima’s Playhouse visits two million students every year in-person in Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Texas. The company’s characters, Señor Burro©, the Spanish-speaking donkey, Madame Belle©, the French-speaking cow, BahamaMan©, the superhero who teaches social responsibility, and Waste-A-Tron©, the villain who loves to litter all play a part in the development of the students visited daily.
“We believe that every child has the potential to be an incredible storyteller and creator,” said Dr. Tyrone Sawyer, co-founder of Jemima’s Playhouse. “I too was once a young student sitting in classrooms at Gambier Primary School and St. John’s College. Just like I did, these students have the potential to write stories about characters that would achieve world-wide acclaim, like Señor Burro© and BahamaMan©.”
The children of EP Roberts Primary School participated eagerly. They danced excitedly to the original songs of Jemima’s Playhouse, learning their numbers in French seamlessly. Sawyer and his team were deeply inspired by the excited response of E.P. Roberts Primary students.
This visit is part of Jemima’s Playhouse’s ongoing mission to bring arts education and imagination-building experiences to children across the globe. The company has previously held similar events in various locations, including --- PA Gibson Primary School in Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera, and numerous schools in Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas. In each case, Jemima’s Playhouse has one goal: to teach students the importance of creative expression as a tool for learning and personal development.
EP Roberts Primary School staff and students were thrilled by the experience. “It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and excited,” said Ms. Lewis, Principal of EP Roberts. “Jemima’s Playhouse reminded our students that they have the power to dream big and create their own stories. It was a day they will never forget.”
Jemima’s Playhouse is committed to spreading the message that imagination is not just a tool for fun, but a powerful resource for growth, problem-solving, and self-expression. The company looks forward to future collaborations and performances that inspire the next generation of creators.
